“What’s the Difference Between Your Lines?”
A guide to the question we get asked most frequently
With a growing number of SKU’s (380 now to be exact), the number one question we get asked is what the difference is between them. Here’s an exact guide to clarify each lines’ characteristics.
RIFLE BULLET LINES
MTH (Match/Tactical/Hunting)
This was the original line we launched Cutting Edge Bullets with 8 years ago. It is a solid copper, lead-free, lathe turned design. With its high BC, it can beused for extreme long-range hunting and shooting, but works perfectly at closer ranges as well. It is an expanding bullet, but not in the traditional sense: it is designed to shed 3-6 small petals after 1-2” of penetration while the base continues. The petals follow alongside the main wound channel to create massive trauma.

MTAC (Match/Tactical)
This line is the solid, non-expanding version of our MTH line. This bullet is strictly for target use only. We designed the MTH and MTAC line in matching pairsso that you can use the same load for both and get the same point of impact. Many people choose to purchase the solids for load development, thn use the matching MTH for hunting.

LAZER
This is also a high BC, monolithic, lathe turned projectile that is lead-free. It is an expanding hollow point, and was designed to shed larger petals than the MTH line making them more trauma inducing. Interestingly enough, they were originally designed as a hunting bullet for use inside 1000yds. However, upon further testing, it was found that although they have a BC slightly lower than the MTH/MTAC lines, they produce more consistent BC numbers from shot to shot. For this reason, they are frequently used in matches, and were used by Derek Rodgers of team Applied Ballistics to win the King of 2 Miles match in 2017. Read more about our LAZER™ line HERE!

ER Raptor
This is our highest trauma producing hunting bullet. These are a hollow point design in both brass and copper. They are designed so that after 1-2” ofpenetration, 6 blades will break off and radiate outward in a star pattern while the base continues.

For ranges: 0-600yds
Functions down to: 1500fps
FB Raptor
This line functions in the same manner as the above-mentioned ER raptor. The only difference is that these have a flat base for more case capacity. This linecaters to specialty cartridges such as Subsonic 300 blackout, supersonic 300 Blackout, .458 SOCOM and 450 Bushmaster.

ESP Raptor
These are also uniquely designed to be shot as a hollow point, a tipped hollow point (tips sold with the bullets uninstalled for optional installation) OR they can be turned around and shot as a solid; all options have the same point of impact. These are solid brass bullets designed to function like the rest of our Raptor lines. When shot as a hollow point or tipped hollowpoint, after 1-2” of penetration, 6 blades will break off and radiate outward in a star pattern while the base continues.

MAXIMUS™
Our latest line is the Maximus, which was designed to be a hybrid between our Raptor and MTH bullets. After 1-2” of penetration, this bullet will shed 8blades at impact velocities over 2400fps, and 4 blades at impact velocities lower than 2400fps. Our Raptors all have a larger hollow point with a plastic tip installed; these were designed without the plastic tip and a smaller hollow point which creates a slightly better BC. Because these are not a 2 piece bullet like our Raptor lines, they are also more cost effective to manufacture, thus making them less expensive for you. Our DGBR bullets are designed for deep, straight line penetration for dangerous game hunting. This design features our 13 degree nose profile which hasbeen tested and proven to provide maximum penetration and trauma.

DGBR-HP (Dangerous Game Brass Hollow Point)
Counterpart to the DGBR is the DGBR-HP line which is designed for maximum terminal performance for dangerous game hunting applications. After 1-2” ofpenetration, 6 blades break off and radiate outward in a star pattern while the blunt trauma base continues on for even deeper penetration.

MUZZLELOADER BULLET LINES
MZL Maximus
This line features the profile and functionality of the above-mentioned Maximus line, but designed specifically for muzzleloaders. After 1-2” of penetration, 4blades break off and radiate outward in a star pattern while the base continues for deeper penetration.

MZL Raptor
These bullets feature a very large hollow point and will shed 4 blades after 1-2” of penetration. Designed with high trauma in mind, these are a hunting bulletcreated to put game on the ground quickly and ethically.

HANDGUN LINES
HGS (Handgun Solid)
These are a solid, non-expanding bullet designed for deep, straight line penetration. Our 13 degree nose profile has been proven to be the best design fordeep penetration and high trauma.

Applications: hunting, target, personal defense
Our HGHP handgun line is an expanding bullet designed for personal defense and hunting. After 1-2”, 4 blades will break off and radiate outward while thebase continues on for deeper penetration. These bullets are loaded in our PHD defense ammo mentioned below.

LOADED AMMUNITION
PHD (Personal Home Defense) Ammunition
